Sportsgrounds for hire

Merri-bek City Council manages all sportsground and netball court bookings. Sports fields and courts can be hired for casual sporting activities when not being used by allocated clubs.

To hire a Merri-bek sports facility you must:

  • have public liability insurance cover for at least $10 million applicable until the date and for the duration of the booking (bookings will not be approved until a copy of the applicant’s policy is provided);
  • agree to pay the applicable hiring charge (tables below) and security bond well in advance of the booking date;
  • accept the terms and conditions of the sportsground booking.

Please be aware:

  • Bookings are only accepted online on IMS.
  • Bookings must be submitted at least 14 days prior to your activity.
  • After making a tentative online booking request, you will be emailed an automated acknowledgment.
  • Approval of booking depends on ground or pavilion availability.
  • Council will contact you about your request and if it has been approved or if you need to make alternate arrangements.
  • The security bond and hire fees must be paid prior to your booking date.

Lights fee
  • Non-daylight savings days will automatically be charged “lights fee” before 7.30am and from 5pm.
  • During daylight savings bookings will be automatically charged “lights” from 8pm.

Your invoice may include multiple fees for a day if your booking includes lights and no lights fees.

Note: Schools in the Merri-bek City Council area will not incur a sportsground / court hire fee.

Bond

The security bond and the bond levy will be reimbursed once all keys are returned. Keys must be returned within one working day of completion of your event or activity or bond will be forfeited.

Booking / application process

If you are able to meet the above requirements, please follow these instructions to submit a booking request.

Once an application has been processed and approved, Council emails the applicant a confirmation letter. For any booking that cannot be accommodated, we will contact the applicant and other arrangements may be explored.

As a result of permanent booking arrangements between tenant club/s and Council, your booking may be transferred or cancelled where additional play will be detrimental to the condition of the ground surface.

Merri-bek City Council offers a number of parks and venues for the use of personal training and fitness activities.

Requirements

In order to conduct personal training at our parks and venues, you need a permit.

Permits are valid for 12 months. At the end of the 12 month period, you must apply for a new permit. This permit must be carried with you when using Merri-bek's parks and reserves and shown to any Council Officer upon request. Appropriate photo identification must also be carried by the trainer.

To acquire a personal trainer permit, you need the following documents:

  • proof of public liability insurance policy (for business);
  • copy of fitness accreditation / registration (for each trainer);
  • copy of current first aid certificate (for each trainer) including a copy of the cardiopulmonary resuscitation certificate.

Application Process

Before conducting your personal training session, you must apply for a Personal Training Permit and pay the appropriate fee.
