Why is the outdoor pool closing?
The outdoor 50m pool is closing so we can complete important upgrade works, including retiling the outdoor pool, repairing the outdoor shade sail and minor pool plant works. These improvements will help keep the pool safe, high quality and enjoyable for years to come. -
How long will the pool be closed?
The closure is expected to last up to five months, with a projected reopening around September 2026. -
What areas will be closed?
The 50m pool, meeting room, family changeroom, grassed areas and pool concourse will be unavailable during the works.

The outdoor synthetic grass area will be closed to the general public, but open for programming only. -

Why has Council decided that May-September 2026 is the most appropriate time to conduct these works?
Many factors have been considered in the timing of these upgrade works – such as lower patronage over the winter season / less demand, and the deterioration of the 50m outdoor pool itself.
It will return with a new submerged-rated tiling system that will see this asset continue to deliver for the community for many years to come. -
Why is Oak Park only open on reduced hours?
These hours have been chosen to reflect peak participant demand, catering to the large majority of swimmers and their fitness routines.
Historical data does not support the viability of alternatively offering an outdoor pool outside of the proposed hours. However, we will be actively monitoring demand and participation on an ongoing basis from 4 May to ensure service meets demand.
-
Are you offering reduced or suspended memberships during this time due to the pool closure?
There is no option to suspend or reduce the price of memberships during the 50m outdoor pool closure, which is lasting up to five (5) months (4 May - late September).
Unfortunately, we are not offering reduced membership prices, extended suspensions or waiving of cancellation fees at this point in time due to the reciprocal arrangements in place across our sites.
We are, however, working closely with Council to determine any applicable returning member offers for Brunswick Baths members when the outdoor pool reopens. More details will be shared in the weeks to come.
