    Active Merri-bek runs a range of programs and exercise options designed for the needs of adults over 60. These memberships can either include: use of our pools; participation in group fitness classes (tailored to older adults); or both.

    Our older adults exercise programs and seniors fitness classes aim to improve support the body through movement, mobility and strength - keeping you healthier for longer, reducing the risk of falls and other conditions brought on by ageing through hip mobility exercises, osteoporosis prevention and lower back strength exercises. We'll work with you through program planning, exercise demonstrations and regular check-ins to ensure your program is right for you. Your exercises will be appropriate for your level of fitness and ability and you can absolutely rely on being given the right advice. You’ll also enjoy the company of other like-minded people of similar age and be supervised by qualified trainers that understand your needs.

    Senior fitness classes

    Active Foundations

    An all-inclusive program for people who have restricted mobility and are looking to improve their strength and balance to live a more efficient and independent life. It's aimed at people who may have reduced physical capabilities, joint challenges, lack of mobility, or other physical issues. It's also great for those recovering from illness or accidents.
    Active Living

    A low-impact class that offers a variety of exercises designed and conducted in a controlled environment under the management of a highly skilled trainer, the class focuses on exercises to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activities for daily living. It is a great class for seniors and for people who have a chronic illness.
    Active Movers

    A low impact class to music designed to increase muscular endurance, strength, flexibility and fitness. Aimed at people over 50 years of age, but all welcome.
    Active Strength

    Specifically for patrons who require rehabilitation. The class is conducted in a controlled environment under the management of a highly skilled trainer who provides supervision, help with technique, form, variation and progression for exercises. Prior to starting, patrons would receive a face to face session with our trainer to obtain a personalized program for the class.
