All our centres offer people of all abilities the opportunity to participate in a safe and clean environment with qualified, enthusiastic and reliable staff.

That's why we run and participate in accessible programs to help make our centres and services accessible to more people. Our centres also have a range of accessible facilities that help provide access to people of all abilities.

Active Merri-bek is committed to ensuring that barriers to participation are reduced for those in need. That's why we offer several memberships and programs to help those in our community who are least likely or unable to participate. This includes offering concessional pricing, as well as free entry for carers as part of the Companion Card program.

Active Merri-bek is part of the Hidden Disability Sunflower Intiative!

Not all disabilities are visible, yet they impact how people navigate the world. For those with hidden disabilities, daily activities like exercise and recreation can come with unique challenges.

Active Merri-bek are proud to support these individuals through the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme, helping people feel more understood, safe, and empowered in our community spaces.

What is the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower?

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a widely recognised symbol that allows individuals to discreetly reveal a need for extra understanding, patience, or assistance. By wearing a lanyard with a sunflower logo, individuals can indicate they may need a little extra support without having to explain their condition. This subtle symbol reminds us that disabilities can come in all forms – not all of them visible.

If you have a hidden disability and would like a sunflower lanyard, you can request one from our friendly reception staff. This will make it even easier to access support and understanding throughout our facilities.
