It's never too late to learn how to swim! Adult and teen swimming lessons with the Y will help you learn the basics, improve your technique and develop vital survival skills.
Our swimming lessons for adults and teens teach important water safety skills, not just for the pool but for rivers, lakes and the ocean.
Whether you're a complete beginner, want to become more confident in the water or are looking to improve your swimming technique – we can help you achieve your goals.
In the adult and teen swimming program, you have the opportunity to:
- learn foundational skills in swimming such as floating, treading water and basic strokes;
- develop and refine previously learnt swimming strokes;
- work towards a particular goal for an event or assessment;
- achieve personal goals for your own swimming needs.
Please bring swimwear, a towel and dry clothes to your swimming lessons. Goggles are recommended but not essential.

Adult stroke correction
This class for suitable for confident and established adult swimmers who want to build their technical skills, strength and endurance in the water. In the class, you'll work towards cohesive, comfortable lap swimming.
During the program, you can expect to take part in a variety of drills and activities to refine your overall stroke technique. You'll practice backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle and butterfly drills. This is a great way to work on particular strengths and points of technique within a stroke.
